I love Skillet, they are getting close to being my favorite band!
I own Awake (I think that's what it's called), Comatoes, Collide, and Alien Youth. I've checked out a few of their older cds but I didn't think they are as good.
John Cooper (lead singer) is really awesome, he can relate and comunicat really well with teens and I know several adults that love them too.
They are an increadible live show-You've got to see them in concert!!! I feel like the are really unique- not many Christian bands can combined the piano & violin with the hard rock so well.
They, at least John Cooper (the band has changed members a lot through the years) have been around for awhile (first cd came out in 1996). I think you would be surprised just how many fans the do have.

They've actually been around since 1996. You wouldn't recognize them for the songs they put out back then, though. They sound completely different now.

The complete discography is on their website.

That's an awesome arrangement...I've thought about trying to get in on that kind of thing when a great concert comes to town.

Oh my what a great topic. I absolutely love Skillet. I actually just started listening to them like a year or so ago for some reason couldn't get into them before. But I have Collide, Comatose, Comatose comes alive, and Awake. I have to say the new album is excellent. And I think the song You have forgiven is such a beautiful song and it makes me be thankful that Jesus died for me.

You speak of them like they are a new band. They've been releasing albums since 1996's self-titled debut. Here's a Skillet discography.

They are getting pretty well known with their music getting used in NFL commercials. I think they are on the verge of breaking it huge.

Biggest breaking CCM "rock" bands have been: U2, Superchic[k], Flyleaf, Underoath, Demon Hunter, P.O.D., Stryper, Disciple, and Skillet. I know there are probably others and I apologize if I left out anyone's favorite.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more activity on this thread (I know I was late in discovering it, but still...), Monster and Awake and Alive have been getting some fairly good fan-made music videos spreading around the internet.

Skillet is one of the few 'christian music' bands that I've heard that has consistently good sound (at least, starting with Comatose) and isn't ham-fisted with "christian lyrics". Are there other similar bands? It's quite likely that I just haven't noticed them.

Skillet is definitely the one that I have the most songs from, but I own one or a few songs from the following too: Red, TFK, Fireflight, Flyleaf. All good heavy bands.

Check out CCMmagazine.com for other mainstream CCM rock bands. Other groups I would suggest checking out are Disciple, DecembeRadio, Fighting Instinct, 12 Stones, and Alter Bridge (made up of ex-Creed members).
