It's Fall!

There's hot cider on the woodstove and pumpkin muffins in the oven. Help yourselves, and chat away!

I'm working overnight this week. Unfortunately it's not overtime - I just switched my schedule around. I'm sleeping at Melissa's in the morning, and then I get to come back here at 5pm to cover poison.

Where is the handsome, RICH knight in shining armor who will take me away from all of this?

Ooooh I like the idea of Fall!!! It was under 100 here today; in fact it barely hit 90 and was WINDY.

Fall is certainly here... I am NOT ready for fall. It's only in the 40's this morning. Too cold to go out for a run. I'm certainly turning into a wimp these days.

I need to get firewood moved to the front porch. But, that means extracting the garden wagon from the garage. We usually use the front garden as a staging area but I haven't pulled my tomatoes yet. The plants are still loaded with tomatoes but I doubt they will ripen because it's too cold.

We're having a rainy fall so far. Of course that shouldn't surprise me since we had a rainy spring and a rainy summer.

Sorry about your schedule, Cindy, but I'm glad that you can stay at Melissa's.

Happy Fall!! It does not feel like fall to me! Cold and windy and rainy! I told Cindy that I want sunny, cool fall days. Oh well. She says, "Welcome to fall by Lake Erie!"

Not much going on for us. Still trying to get settled in our house. But I am taking big steps towards being a "country girl"! I got 9 baby chicks at a farm auction with Cindy a couple of weeks ago. My hubby and I are building a really cool chicken coop for them. Our next project is a bunny hutch for our daughter's bunny.

I gave up on trying to change my avatar a couple of months ago. It does not work for me, no matter how small the image is. Oh well.

Well, the sun is out today!! Yay!!

Sometimes the avatar feature is broken and you can't add or change it. Not sure if it's working right now.

After a week of having my bathtub drip into my kitchen (and the landlord coming out 3 times to try to fix it) I'm getting a new tub/enclosure on Monday. He said I can go ahead and use it because the damage is already done.

We had a 90 degree day on Sunday and yesterday it was 83, but today we are back to truly autumn temperatures. Everyone here is saying how cool it is here for autumn (to them). For me it's the autumn temps I know and love so well. Now if we just had color here, it would really feel like the autumns I know. I am enjoying it though.

The past couple of days of school have been a joy!!! The timer works well....keeps her from dawdling and it's like a game to her as she likes to beat it. I also use it for her eating and putting away dishes...need to be done before the timer goes off. It has been working great so far...instead of the long drawn out process she usually makes it.

She is also doing better with reading...it is not taking her as long this time around to get fluent with the new story...nice to see.

It is blowing today though...in fact a neighbor's basket blew into our yard this morning. Little one is playing with it now, but I did tell her we need to give it back to the girls.

Frost! I'll trade you for a few days (or until I freeze); we had the second hottest monsoon season on record.

I've been waiting to start school 'til around lunchtime or later since the mornings are cool enough for my boys to play outside now.

I cannot fathom such hot weather in October. We usually get our first snow on October 3rd.

Wow! I grew up in Vermont, and we usually got our first snow on my birthday, which is October 20th! October 3rd is so early. We did not even get snow (on the ground, but it would be on the mountains) that early!

Y'alls can KEEP your snow!!! I am sooooooooooooooo glad my last triathlon was LAST weekend. I can't imagine doing an open water swim now!

We eat dinner outside all summer. I was thinking we could sneak in one last dinner. 60* I think is just a tad too chilly. Maybe we'll get an Indian summer??? Two years ago I did the TowPath half marathon which was in mid-October. It was in the 80's adn I had a terrible race. That was the year that they shut down the Chicago Marathon due to heat. So maybe???

My husband got a job offer! It is here in town and he will not be on the road anymore. It's a lot less money, but I think we'll be happier. Worst case scenario we sell the house and get something smaller next year.

That is not so bad! I am very happy he got this job.

Yay, Shadow! I'm happy for you!

I have been hesitating about whether or not I wanted to say anything about what's going on in my life, but I think it's time. My husband has been out of the house since Sept. 9th. I am not sure if he will be coming back. This was my decision, not his, and he still has the opportunity to turn things around. I am just not sure he wants to be married badly enough to do what I need him to do. I had hoped that this might be a short term thing and that he'd be back before I needed to say anything, but it's not looking like it.

I am fine either way - the kids, sadly, do not miss him. We are getting things done that he has been dragging his feet on. I have God and my friends. My life has actually not changed much since he's been gone, which speaks volumes to his lack of involvement in it.

So I wanted you all to know - right now he needs prayer more than I do, but I certainly won't turn them down.

Cindy, I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with this. Praying that your hubby turns his life around.
