This group has been quiet for some time now. Has anyone seen them lately, and if so, who is singing with them and what style are they singing.

ORIGINAL: upnorthguy This group has been quiet for some time now. Has anyone seen them lately, and if so, who is singing with them and what style are they singing. I saw them in August. The group was Kerry Beatty on lead, Brian Beatty at baritone, Larry Strickland singing bass, and I a good tenor, whose name I don't remember. They still have the same piano player, whose first name is Casey. This is the same group I've seen the last two times, except the tenor is new, and I think better than the one they had before. They are singing solid SG; things like Get Away Jordan. Also, they went back and picked out some of the songs from older PSQ projects. If you're curious, you could buy their DVD that they are selling at their website. I have it, and it's very good. They still have that same big sound they've had for last decade or more. I think they sound great. When I saw them a local group had come on first and sang Good Morning. That group happened to sit in front of us for the rest of the concert. When PSQ sang Good Morning one of the local guys turned to his friends and said, "See, that's how it's supposed to sound." Those guys were enthusiastically impressed with the Palmettoes. When they had the last big personnel sweep I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy them anymore, but that has not been the case. I thought they were even better this year than before. The only negative thing I would say about them is that when Brian Beatty takes his turn as MC, he talks too much. They'd be better just to let Kerry Beatty and Larry Strickland do most of the talking.

The new tenor is Robert (Rob) Fulton. He posted on another board that Larry is still at bass and Brian is still singing baritone and doing most of the emcee work for PSQ. He said Kerry has left to take a full time position at a church in Florida and that Paul Lancaster has taken Kerry's place on lead. He also said PSQ is on tour in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where they are in their third of four concerts with the Perrys.

While I certainly understand when people decide it's time to come off the road, I am sad to see Kerry Beatty leave. He's been a favorite of mine since the "new" guys took over PSQ after the Jacks retired. He was the last one left of the new PSQ. It feels like the end of an era for them. I wish him lots of luck, and I'll just have to add him to the growing list of SG people I miss. That list is getting awfully long.
