How in depth? JVernon McGee's 'Thru the Bible' volumes IV and V(of five; the OT, I-III is good too!)is excellent. He treats the Bible as a whole concept rather then the separate books.

I like (and have used) "Encountering The New Testament" by Walter A. Elwell and Robert W. Yarbrough. Baker Books, ISBN 0-8010-2156-1. It's a hardback with companion interactive CD Rom. A similar volume is available for the Old Testament. Here is a link so you can look at more details: Encountering The New Testament, 2nd Edition

I read A Popular Survey of the New Testament by Norman L. Geisler, published in 2007, about a year ago. It was a very informative read. I recommend it.

I recommend New Testament Introduction by Donald Guthrie. It's pretty big, though (1054 pages), because it gets really detailed. If you'd like something a little lighter, try Step by Step Through the New Testament by Thomas D. Lea and Tom Hudson. This is designed to be taught as a class and a companion student workbook is also available. It's published by LifeWay Press in Nashville, TN.

It's been 35 or 40 years since I've had Bible School so I don't recall which one I used then.

This is a very good series and it has some very good companion materials that are part of this series i.e. one such example is a book that contains a sampling of writings contemporary to the bible when those references help to bring understanding to the Scriptures.
