The Post on Intamcy prompted me to post this thread. I became a Christian at 13, got married at 23 and I am currently 44. Through the years I have probably gone through the same things as many men and at this point have asked myself how does being a Christian filter a man's personality when it comes to a woman. And how does the way a woman was raised as well as how she was treeated by men influence them. When I was dating I dated, I asked girls out I would kiss them goodnight, I would hold their hands and I knew that I should not marry a non-christian. I did however date quite a few non-christian girls and the kissing and so forth was more... Now I was not a saint in my dating days and I do regret one situation in my past (When you tell your kids not to drink and drve you should also tell them not to drink and date!). So I do have a past that I deal with as well. But it seems like the Man whether the suitor, the boyfriend or the husband has to deal with all of the intended, girlfriend, wife's baggage. My wife has all sisters in her family and they are all different but similar when it comes to their personalities. Two of her sisters were abused to diferent levels, one became promiscuous while the other did not marry until much later in life. While my wife does not rememebr any specific abuse she does admit that her parents, while not cruel were very unsupportive and had very strict ideas, so I married a woman who had only dated one other guy and for a very short time. Now to my question or point. Why are men seen as the villan so often when a marrige has problems or even when pursuing a women to date? Has Christianity become the dating/mariage police in that the strictures of the church have set-up unnatural boundaries between the sexes? Does a man have to always accept fault for being a man? As I said my wife and I are still in love after 20 years of marrige but in those 20 years I have been the brunt of every boneheaded play by any man ever to lie cheat or steal and I have also had to live down my father in law, father and my wifes uncles faults. I am not suspicious of my wife based on what her sister does but my wife gets mad at me when one of my friends screws up, guilt by association. Does anyone else understand what I mean or does this come off more as an angry vent based on some of the female responses in some of these forums?
