Major College football kicks off Sept 3rd. Should be a great season all around. Will Florida repeat? Who will meet for the Big 12 Championship? Will the SEC once again prove to be the most overrated conference? Can ANYONE beat my Trojans?? Fight On SC!

Samson, you might want to be a little bit careful. Remember a couple of years ago, and a little team called . . . Stanford? And last year? Wasn't it Oregon who jumped up and bit the Trojan on his backside? Let's not get hasty! My 2 teams, WVU and Marshall, are busy prepping for the upcoming campaign. The Mountaineers should be the class of the Big East (Notice I said should.) again this year, with Pitt giving us a run for our money. After 2 straight years of the Panthers ruining our season, it's definitely time for ma-a-a-a-jor payback on those guys. I'm looking at a final record of 11-1, possibly 10-2. The big early test for them will be a game in Auburn, AL. If they can get by the Tigers, there's a good chance that they could run the table. Possible stumbling blocks: Colorado (home), So. Florida (away), Cincinnati (away). Pitt will not, I repeat Will Not beat us at home 2 times in a row. Marshall could finish 6-6 this season, maybe even 7-5 - the swing game is Memphis (away). If they beat them, then a 7-5 season is not out of the question. Either way, the Herd will much improved over last years 4-8 campaign. The return of All C-USA defensive end Albert McClelland will bring a needed lift to their defense, and the offense will be better as well. Marshall plays WV on Oct. 17th in Morgantown, and as much as I'd like to see the Herd win (for state bragging rights), I don't think it'll happen. On the National Title scene; Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State, and Texas will battle it out all season in the polls, with WVU making a serious push and Boise State looking to bust the BCS door down again. If the Mounties can't play for the national title, then I really don't care who wins it . . . as long as it's not Florida. I'm just not a Gators fan! Nothing against Tim Tebow - he is a brother, after all - but Steve Spurrier soured me on them long ago. Lou Holtz did the same thing with Notre Dame; loved 'em in the Ara Parseghian/Dan Devine days, but not when he was coaching! OK, I'm off the soapbox now. Let's play some PHFFFFFFFFT-ball!! Duane

still boils down to one major powerhouse vs. a conference full of them. sorry samson, pac 10 is a two bit second rate confernece that needs to be incorporated into the WAC. as much as I love my beloved Tide, I think Florida will repeat. further anchoring Tebow as the premier college athlete of last 25 years. lets look at SEC. again this year college football is SEC, then Big 12, Big 10, WAC, ACC, Big East, Pac 10 in that order.

neal, Boise St is a tough team. I am glad they showing along with others that pac 10 isnt even the confernece out west anymore. when people finally get the idea one team doesnt make a conference, the rest of us may be happy. cog, I have all the faith in the world. But the SEC is still the powerhouse confernece. Ole Miss is going to a fight to remember this year. and the intense hatred the conference has for the scum in orange and white the volunteers is going to make the third saturday in Oct a day that will be the D Day of the 2000's. and yes you still have to look at Florida. Tim Tebow is a class act. as well as the best player in the game the last 25 years

There is something very wrong with the thought of a team playing on a blue field winning a championship.

cow, the color of the field doesnt matter. I think theuy showed that when the *cough cough* mighty sooners played them. the coach from Tennessee messed himself uip. SEC will be headhunting him. neal, the WAC deserves the BCS bids not Pac 10

Good to see this forum cranked up again. That means it is football time. I enjoy all the banter and predictions, whether biased or not. I will comment once in a while about the Gators who happen to be my favorite team, and although I am justfiably proud of Tim Tebow and the current Gator team, I was a "Gator" back when it wasn't such good times. That being said, I intend to enjoy myself this football season.

College Football is better all around when the Golden Domers are succeeding. I would hate for BSU to have to play them in a BCS bowl this coming bowl season because they look like they will be tough, but we'll just have to do what we have to do. BRONCOS FTW!!!

One week to go! I hope the Gators live up to expectations this year. It should be an intersting Heisman race this year with three candidtes that I think are fully qualified and good enough to win it, and who knows what other players are there who may be good enough to win. I'm looking forward to some good football games. Go Gators!

Whew! What a game! Tide and the Hokies! Tide prevails but boy do we need to stick to the running game. Even though Mcelroy is from Texas, he's got aways to win me over. Horns won big! But then again they should have.

My Vols looked great yesterday...of course Western Ky. is not nearly the level of competition they'll see from here on out. They face a more challenging game next week against UCLA, and then...straight into the conference fire with Florida. I was really impressed with the play of all the freshmen, and our quarterback was very accurate (albeit throwing a couple of interceptions). Looks like the Tide struggled a bit...however my hat's off to them for beating another top ten team. Mike

I don't care who the next champions are, as long as it's not one particular Big 10 team that will remain nameless.

There is absolutely no chance in heck that the Wolverines are going to be this year's champions. I mean, I would bet the Cardinals would make the Super Bowl before the Wolverines become champions.

Well I do care and I hope it's the LongHorns or the Crimson Tide! But I certainly share the feeling about one particular team in the Big Ten. I'd also like to add one particular media darling from the Pac 10.
