Sorry it took so long to post this. We had a family illness that took us out of town. Here's how the benefit concert went on July 1st at Johnny Minicks Church. Les Butler of the Singing News was there to start the concert. Toni Clay opened the concert. She was unknown to me before this but she is a very talented singer. She has also written a bunch of songs. She was good. After her Mike Allen came up. He only did a few songs but I really enjoyed him. He is a great soloist. I could have heard more of him. What came next was the highlight of the night. Three young children with Autism came up and performed. One girl played the mandolin, a boy sang and one played the piano. It made me and my wife cry. It was very moving. After a brief intermission Monument came on. This was the first time I have seen the new lineup. They are awesome. Jerry Pilgrim is singing bass and is one of the smoothest bass singers I have heard. Daryl Williams is now singing lead for Monument. Wow, what a singer. They have an all-star lineup. Their band is great to. If im not mistaken, Randy Miller (former Kingsmen)was playing guitar in their band. After Monument, country singer Ed Bruce performed. He was a great singer and his testimony was moving. Allison Speer was there but was unable to sing due to health reasons. I also saw Johnny Minick and Tanner Stahl (Soul'd Out QT) in the crowd. It was an incredible concert but the most touching moment was when Matt Felts and his non-profit org presented the check to the family of the little boy. The concert brought in over $9000. This will buy a service dog for the boy. I always enjoy going to a concert but this was a very special night. I am very glad my wife and I could go. Hats off to Matt Felts and all the artists for reaching out to this family.
