I was wondering if anybody likes "Hero" by Skillet off of their new cd "Awake". I have that song stuck in my head. I also like the song "Monster". Or do you like any of the other songs on their new cd? I am not a Skillet fan or anything but I do like a few of their songs. I saw them at Rock the River and I think they sang "Hero" there then I looked it up on YouTube. (I am not sure if I heard the song at Rock the River or not. I might have heard it somewhere else.)

I haven't picked up the album yet. I have heard Hero on the radio a couple of times, and I really like it.

Does anyone know if they utilized the vocals ability of the drummer on this album?

I have it. They only used her vocals on two tracks... "Hero" and "Awake and Alive"

I wish they would have utilized her a little more on vocals. Whatever the case, it's a decent album.

I've heard Hero and Monster. I like both, but I have to say, Monster is way better. Gotta love that growling.

I have yet to get the album.

RHardin15 what other songs would you recommend off of the new cd? I did look up "Believe" but I don't really think I liked it. (I wasn't listening that close to the song.)

Hero is a great song, as is the rest of the album. I've listened to it on Youtube and hope to pick it up soon on CD.

I LOVE skillets newest cd, "Awake"! I to got to see then at Rock the River (in St. Louis with 50,000 others) and they are an amazing band to see in concert!

If you haven't already, you all have got to see Skillet's new music video for "Monster".... Skillet's Music Video of MONSTER

They removed that growl when he "feels like a monster" on the radio edit ot the song. I was glad to see that they kept it in the video. It's good to hear them get a little rawer like in their Collide days!

Wow, is that really the new drummer singing on those songs? I read an article that said it was the bass player/lead singer's wife (the keyboard player) singing on those tracks. I love her drumming on this record, but I had no idea that was her singing on the tunes. Very cool!

Yeah, John Cooper's wife sang in a couple songs on Comatose, but that is definitely not her on Awake. If you see them live, she sings on those songs in concert, as well as a solo during Those Nights I believe...

Yes. Jen Ledger (their new drummer) sings background vocals.

So far there first two songs sound great. I can't wait to get my hands on there album. ''Hero'' is exactly what I expect to hear from them. ''Monster'' was something new, but still excellent. I like too see that they are continuously expanding there music.

Skillet and Seventh Day Slumber are the only two bands I listen too right now. There music is so relevant too today's teens and the struggles and hardships we go through.

It's also just good adrenaline pumping rock!

I am hoping to see Skillet on their tour. I didn't know that Skillet got a different drummer. (I haven't liked their music that long.) I knew that the drummer's name was Jen though. Who was the other drummer? Why did he/she leave and when?

her name is Lori Peters, she played drums from 2000-2007 in Skillet. She left right near the end of 2007. Jen is about half Lori's age, but she has all the talent and then some. I think Lori left because she wanted to spend more time with her family and less time touring. Skillet has had plenty of former members though, which is probably one reason why their sound has changed so much over the years. The only original member is lead singer John Cooper

Skillet is coming around where I live next month and I really want to go see them. I got to see them at a concert (Well actually it was at Rock the River but anyways.) and they said that they did name themselves after a frying pan! They said that a lot of people ask them if they have some great story about how they got their name but they don't. I wouldn't want to name my band (if I had one) after a frying pan. But I do think that the name Skillet is very cool!
